Mekhi Phifer has reportedly signed on to star in Showtime’s House of Lies .
The 8 Mile star will tackle the role of Dre in the third season of Showtime’s acclaimed comedy. The character, a successful clothing company founder, hires Marty (Don Cheadle) to help him expand his business. According to Deadline , the role will be recurring .
Based on Martin Kihn’s book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time , the series follows the adventures of several management consultants at Galweather and Stearn. Kristen Bell, Josh Lawson, and Ben Schwartz also star.
Mekhi Phifer isn’t the only talented individual to make an appearance on House of Lies . Nia Long, Richard Schiff, Larenz Tate, Mo Gaffney, and Adam Brody have all played supporting characters on the series. The new season is set to premiere on January 12 .
Showtime revealed earlier this year that it was renewing several of its popular programs for another go-around. The cable network is also moving forward with brand new episodes of Shameless and Californication . The shows reportedly began production earlier this year .
Phifer is certainly no stranger to the world of television. The I Still Know What You Did Last Summer star previously enjoyed an extremely healthy stint on the hospital drama ER . The acclaimed actor portrayed Dr. Gregory Pratt on the award-winning series from 2002 until 2008.
His other small screen credits include New York Undercover , Homicide: Life on the Street , Curb Your Enthusiasm , and Lie to Me . Phifer also tackled the role of Rex Matheson on Torchwood .
Fans of the actor can catch him on the big-screen next year in The Illusionist director Neil Burger’s action flick Divergent . Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet, Ashley Judd, and Maggie Q also star in the flick.
