Britney Spears’ “Womanizer” video hit 20/20 on Friday , which was mostly interesting because (to me) it was a bit of a let-down. Where’s all the sexy? Even naked writhing failed to resurrect the Old Britney. I prefer “Womanizer” in audio form, sans hair flicking, and I’m not embarrassed to admit it.
Allow me to clarify: I set the bar really high. The video had great production, costumes weren’t horrible, and things were generally polished and packaged up nicely. But when you hear “Womanizer” rhyming with um, “Womanizer” too many times in a row, it starts to get to you. The song’s just not awesome, and the video amplifies its gradual slide.
