A meggings mania is sweeping the nation. “Meggings” is shorthand fashionetta lingo for male leggings, and style experts are predicting this 2013 men’s fashion trend will leave little to the imagination. Skinny jeans are prepared to hop the pond, going from America to Britain .
Mel Brook’s Robin Hood and his Merry Men might be most comfortable in the latest trend. “Tight tights,” as they would say, accompanied by a high falsetto. Russell Brand, Noel Fielding, Justin Bieber , and Lenny Kravitz are some of the celebrities who’ve joined this merry little band. Although perhaps the Bieb is the only one squeaking.
According to the Daily Mail , fashion center New York is a little bit divided on the staying power of this latest fashion trend.
“Male tights are so much more comfortable than skinny jeans,” said the English internet entrepreneur Mark Dorosz. “I’ve always had good legs and it’s nice to show them off all year round.”
But every fashion trend has its critics. I’ve gotta admit that when Googling images of meggings many of them made me cringe. I’m not the only one.
“Men in tights? Get out of here,” said New Yorker Gabriel Cru. “We don’t do men in tights in New York. That’s European.”
This writer was in fashion for it even became popular. The latest pairs of skinny jeans have been a burnt orange and a lust red. Yes, that is a shade of coloring and not just what my wife thinks of them on me. All that rock climbing has paid off…
A tip for the wives who desire to keep their husbands hip. While it may be nice to surprise your honey with a nice gift, the issue with meggings is that they can be a little too tight in certain important areas…if you know what I mean. You might want to hold onto the gift receipt or bring your hubby along to try on the meggings to make sure their skinny jeans are comfortable for both walking and sitting.
