A new image promoting Amazing Spider-Man 2 has hinted that Peter Parker might be coming face to face with not one, not two, but six deadly foes in the upcoming comic adaptation, in the shape of the super villain group, The Sinister Six.

In amidst a plethora of new photographs promoting the film is a picture that sees the movies’ producer, Avi Arad, sat in a chair in front of a huge wall that has “Sinister 6” written on it.

Rumors have been circling for months that the sextet of criminals might come up against Spider-Man in one of Webb’s upcoming adventures, however it was thought that the Amazing Spider-Man 2 would help to set up this battle.

The Sinister Six comprises of many villains that have already been confirmed for the sequel.

Jamie Foxx’s Electro, Dane DeHaan’s Harry Osborn, Chris Cooper’s Norman Osborn, both of whom manifest into the Green Goblin, Paul Giamatti’s The Rhino, and Colm Feore’s unspecified role, who it is thought will be the Vulture, will all feature in Webb’s follow up to his 2012 blockbuster hit.

However, at the moment, nothing has been confirmed by Marvel regarding the Sinister Six’s involvement, but this image at least recognises that they are on the minds of those in charge of production.

Other photographs to have been released by the company feature Emma Stone as Gwen Stacey, Foxx as Electro, Spider-Man berating Max Dillon, and The Rhino erratically driving a truck.

Meanwhile, Andrew Garfield expects the sequel to improve on the original.

The actor told the Hollywood Outbreak podcast, “We get to build on a foundation we set with the first one… We get to really expand and explore. Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci wrote something layered and rich, and full of twists and turns, and dimensions. And I think it’s going to be a much more fun picture.”
