Not much is known about Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man , but the test footage (which debuted in July at ComicCon) has finally made its way online.
Wright is set to direct Ant-Man as an action film with comedic elements for Marvel Studios. Despite its humorous tone, the film will not be a spoof or parody, and is considered to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (putting it in the same continuity as Iron Man, The Avengers , et al).
The script, written by Wright and Joe Cornish, will include the characters Henry Pym and Scott Lang as major characters, with the present rumor suggesting that Pym will feature in 60s flashbacks with Lang as the modern-day Ant-Man character. Wright has said that the film will be an origin story, but that the chronology of the film prevents the character from being a part of the Avengers team.
Ant-Man is expected to his theaters on November 6, 2015, after the release of The Avengers 2 . Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that the film will mark the beginning of “Phase Three” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe .
The test footage of the film that debuted online was obviously shot with a cellphone, but the quality is actually pretty good. The footage is focused nicely, and the camera isn’t shaking around, so you can pretty clearly make out what’s going on.
Marvel’s executive vice president of visual effects, Victoria Alonso, said in September that the footage may be released as a DVD extra, so until then, this pirated clip is the best we’ve got.
