The author of Fifty Shades Of Grey , EL James, has given an update on the cinematic version of her novel, which is yet to have its release date confirmed.
Consisting of three books, Fifty Shades Of Grey examines the sexual relationship between the businessman Christian Grey and a college graduate Anastasia Steele. They have gone on to sell over 65 million copies around the world, which was then followed by James selling the screen rights to Universal pictures and Focus Features in Spring 2012.
James admitted to Page Six at Vanity Fair’s Oscars party, “We don’t even have a filmmaker … so we are still a long way away from casting. I have some ideas … but it may not be who people expect.”
Screenwriter Kelly Marcel has been hired to write the script, but the company are still nowhere near to naming a director or cast members.
Universal Pictures chairman Adam Fogelson recently announced that he hopes the film will arrive in cinemas in summer 2014, whilst the rumors over who will star as Steele and Grey have continued to circulate.
Mila Kunis, Emma Watson, and Krysten Ritter , as well as Ryan Gosling, Channing Tatum, and Henry Cavill have each been linked with starring in the film.
Meanwhile EL James has confirmed that her next book will be a lot tamer in comparions to the 50 Shades Of Grey trilogy. Once again speaking at the Vanity Fair party, she said, “I’ve got so many ideas for my next book. But it will be much less raunchy, and I will probably write it under another name and be done with it.”
