Irving, TX – Dallas Cowboys’ Josh Brent out on bail after teammate Jerry Brown was killed in a car crash. As previously reported by The Inquisitr , Josh Brent was arrested on suspicion of intoxication manslaughter after a Mercedes he was driving flipped and caught fire early Saturday in a Dallas suburb near the home of the Dallas Cowboys. Josh Brent’s bond was set at $500,000.
With today’s Sunday night football game, the Cincinnati Bengals honored fallen Dallas Cowboys player Jerry Brown with a moment of silence. According to CNN , Josh Brent was out of the Irving City jail by 4:45 pm local time (5:45 pm EST), which was about the same time the Dallas Cowboys pulled off a last-second field goal against the Bengals, winning 20-19. Emotional players and coaches could be seen hugging afterward, with defensive lineman Jason Hatcher holding up Jerry Brown’s No. 53 jersey.
“I think there was a feeling of numbness out on the field today, but somehow (the players) focused … and we figured out a way to win,” said Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett, who added that he talked with Brown’s mother after the game. “I thought we honored him as well as he could be honored.”
Josh Brent has previously plead guilty to a DUI charge in 2009. But this time Brent faces a second-degree felony that carries a potential two to 20-year prison sentence with a maximum $10,000 fine.
Brent has released a statement, saying that he’s “filled with grief for the loss of my close friend and team mate, Jerry Brown.”
“I am also grief-stricken for his family, friends and all who were blessed enough to have known him,” Josh Brent said. “I will live with this horrific and tragic loss every day for the rest of my life.”
