Kirstie Alley is coming clean regarding her love life, no matter who it hurts. The actress dropped a bombshell Monday night, admitting that she had a secret relationship with the late Patrick Swayze while the two were both married to other people.
On Monday’s Entertainment Tonight , the 61-year-old Dancing With the Stars contestant admitted the secret relationship with Swayze to Chris Jacobs. According to Alley, the two began their secret affair while they filmed 1985’s North and South together. She says that the two embarked on their intense tryst when the initial attraction between the two proved undeniable.
“Both of us were married,” Alley said, though she doesn’t consider her secret relationship with Swayze to be “an affair.”
“But again, I think what we did was worse,” she explains. “Because I think when you fall in love with someone when you’re married, you jeopardize your own marriage and their marriage. It’s doubly bad.”
At the time of the alleged affair, Alley was married to her second husband, Parker Stevenson. The couple divorced in 1997. Patrick Swayze was married to Lisa Niemi from 1975 until his death in 2009.
Alley admitted that she is actually friends with Swayze’s widow, who even asked the actress to speak at his funeral, but she said that she doesn’t know whether or not Niemi is aware of her affair with her late husband.
If she isn’t, hearing it on Entertainment Tonight is probably not the best way to find out.
Earlier this week, Alley told Barbara Walters that Look Who’s Talking co-star John Travolta was “ the greatest love of my life ,” and that she fought the urge to “run off and marry John.”
