Terry Francona lost his way to the Cleveland Indians ballpark for the home opener during a two-block “unintentional” walk.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr , the Cleveland Indians named Terry Francona as their new manager back in the fall of 2012.

Terry Francona was previously working for ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball after being dismissed by the Sox after the infamous 2011 September collapse. Terry Francona replaced fired Indians manager Manny Acta after the team posted a win-loss record of 68-94.

The new Indians manager lives in an apartment two blocks away from the Cleveland Indians ballpark. Terry Francona plans on eventually using a scooter to commute to work, but Terry Francona lost his way when he decided to walk instead.

“I got lost three times,” Terry Francona said. “Even when I got to the garage two people who work here said, ‘Hey, do you know where you’re going?’ I was like, ‘Nope.’”

Eventually, an Indians employee picked up the lost Terry Francona and delivered him to the stadium in a golf cart. Despite getting lost, Terry Francona says he’s enjoying his new job as the Indians manager:

“Cleveland is officially the nicest people I’ve ever met. Everybody I did walk by said, ‘Hello.’ That’s a little different than I’m used to.”

Walking to work is not unusual for Terry Francona. He says, “I like being close to the ballpark, always have. If I had my druthers on the road, I would rather stay in a motel next to the ballpark than have to drive a half-hour.”

Now let’s just hope that Terry Francona getting lost is not an omen for this year’s baseball season.
