Jimmy Fallon Hosts Week Of Pearl Jam

'Pearl Jam Week' On 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon'

Jimmy Fallon will offer late night fans five days of Pearl Jam next week.

Fallon, eponymous host of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, will devote an entire week of shows to the Seattle rockers. Fallon’s tribute to the band—who release their album Lightning Bolt today—will start Monday, October 21, with Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell covering “Footsteps” with members of the Avett Brothers. The next evening, Jimmy hosts Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold doing “Corduroy,” with special guests. Wednesday’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon will offer country star Dierks Bentley with Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready and The Roots. Thursday and Friday Fallon welcomes Pearl Jam themselves (all courtesy of LateNightWithJimmyFallon.com).

The show will be Pearl Jam’s first appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon since September, 2011. The band has appeared on Fallon’s show multiple times.

Perhaps Jimmy Fallon will host Pearl Jam again as host of The Tonight Show. As you may know, Jimmy is set to takeover hosting duties in Spring 2014 when Jay Leno retires. The show’s name will also change; known as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno throughout Jay’s tenure, the title will change to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” Leno recently said Fallon will be “terrific.”

“He’s really good. He’s really, really funny. And he’s a good friend of mine. He’ll be great. I have no doubt of that,” Leno said of Fallon.

The admiration appears to be mutual.

“Jay Leno has just been awesome to me,” Fallon said to E!. “I’ve talked to him all the time since I started [at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon].”

“I hope I make him proud,” Jimmy added.
