‘Star Wars’ 1977 Teaser Trailer Re-Released On YouTube [Video]

Fans of the original Star Wars rejoice! You can now watch the 1977 original teaser-trailer on YouTube after the official channel posted the clip on Friday.

The two-minute-two-seconds long video looks really, really old. After all it’s been 36 years since Star Wars: A New Hope hit movie theaters.

However, movie buffs and fans of the original George Lucas trilogy are jumping for joy at the opportunity to revisit the feelings they had back then, a long, long time ago.

The narrator with a Vincent Price-like voice begins by saying, “Somewhere in the universe this might be happening right now.”

And then the image jumps into the introduction of all those characters fans love, we hear Chewbacca in the background moaning and then there’s a shot of it and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) with her signature pigtail buns, sitting in the command seats on Han Solo’s (Harrison Ford) spacecraft.

The voice calls Star Wars “the story of a boy, a girl, and the universe.”

“It’s an epic of heroes,” the voice continues as Luke Skywalker (Mark Hammill) and Leia swing from one side to the other in the classic scene as they escape Darth Vader’s henchmen, “and villains.”

Vader is seen grabbing one of his commanders by the throat, lifting him off the ground with his powerful hand.

You remember all that right?

The image is blurry at times, but that doesn’t take away from the excitement of seeing the beloved characters back in action in a brand new (sort of) clip, which we haven’t seen in a long time.

This is what audiences saw as the LucasFilm was getting ready to launch what would become one of the greatest franchises in movie history.

Star Wars, a billion years in the making and is coming to your galaxy…this summer.” the announcer ends.
