50 Cent Reveals: ‘I Am Not Homophobic’

Over the years 50 Cent has received criticism for his unfavorable remarks towards the LGBT community. Now, as 50 Cent reveals a more personal side as Curtis Jackson, he’s firing back at those who said he was ever homophobic.

When the subject turned to his song lyrics during an interview with TheWrap, 50 Cent defended himself having said:

“I don’t have homophobia. I never did.”

Jackson continued to explain himself and how he’s not homophobic, or in his case, doesn’t have homophobia:

“You’ve got people that would call some people a redneck, or some people n—–. It’s the term of that time or that period. They’re not necessarily racist, but they’ve heard those terms used around them, and they use them.”

Interestingly enough, 50 Cent’s mother was involved in multiple same-sex relationships while Curtis was growing up. Despite having grown up in that culture, in 2010 he tweeted a homophobic statement that set the media ablaze.

At the time 50 Cent tweeted:

“If you a man and your over 25 and you don’t eat pu–y just kill your self damn it. The world will be a better place. Lol.”

It seems as though 50 Cent has turned a page since that tweet. 50 Cent has started a “Dream School” which is a school that advocates for the LGBT community. The Dream School was set up to help students that struggle from poverty and violence, and will be a part of a series on The Sundance Channel. The show is set to aid troubled teens with celebrity mentors.

50 Cent even mentioned his mother when the issue of homophobia was brought up, having said:

“When I tell you she’s the most important thing that I’ve had in my life, because I don’t know my father at all, she’s all I have — it makes it clear that I don’t actually have those issues.”

50 Cent’s Dream School is set to air on Monday, Oct 7 at 10 pm.
