Gwar Covers Billy Ocean’s ‘Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car’ [Video]

Did Gwar just cover Billy Ocean?

The metal monsters were given an interesting task when they headed to the AV Club’s studio this week: Play “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car.”

The AV Club gets some fantastically awkward performances for its A.V. Undercover series. If you’ve never seen A.V. Undercover here’s the gist: Famous band comes in. Chooses a song from a list. As the list gets shorter the less option the band has to play.

Gwar got stuck with a Billy Ocean cover. I’m not sure if that’s better or worse than their song last year, Kansas’ “Carry On Wayward Son.”

Oderus Urungus said: “They got us playing an even more f–ked up song than the one we did last year… At least Kansas had guitars in it. But this one, we’re gonna make it pure gold.”

The A.V. Club reports that Gwar didn’t have to play Billy Ocean this year. They could have chosen to play Heart’s “Barracuda” or the Rollins Band’s “Low Self Opinion.”

But for some reason Gwar felt like Billy Ocean was more up their alley.

Here’s the latest installment from A.V. Undercover.

Here’s the original version.

So, who did “Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car” better?
