‘Grand Theft Auto Online’ Launch Details

The details surrounding Grand Theft Auto Online‘s launch have been revealed. Some are bad but expected, and some are additions that Rockstar likely added as an incentive to play nice online.

First off, as previously reported by The Inquisitr, Grand Theft Auto Online‘s servers experienced some hiccups as players had trouble signing in. Rockstar was expecting that, as the sheer number of gamers who bought Grand Theft Auto 5 was more than they’d actually expected. The sales numbers rivaled those of World of Warcraft in all reality, and Rockstar has worked diligently to buy and install more servers to counter the problem for the GTA 5 update.

Another issue GTA Online players experienced was unexpected interference with the single-player campaigns. Apparently you can’t just add on an online multiplayer update and expect everything to run like a well-oiled machine. Rockstar, having had no previous experience with online games, are almost literally hovering in customer support, addressing problems as they happen. If everything isn’t fine right away, feel free to report it to Rockstar so they know what to fix.

Other Grand Theft Auto Online launch details include the addition of microtransactions, which will be connected with your online reputation score. In other words, if you play nice you will get access to some nicer toys. We did kind of wonder how GTA Online was going to handle reputation, considering what gamers do regularly in Grand Theft Auto 5.

To further facilitate Grand Theft Auto Online gamers being nicer in general, Rockstar has made garages and safehouses into “safe zones” so nobody can steal anything from them, even by “accident.”

As far as the story elements of Grand Theft Auto Online, Rockstar says it will take place several months before that of the single player campaign.

For those gamers looking to have it all, Rockstar launched the previously mentioned Social Club, which offers exclusive stuff like garages that your cars won’t vanish from, sawed off shotguns, and other nice advantages like the John Marston parent for customization.

Remember, digital hooligans, play nice and Rockstar will give you what you want. Play dirty and you’ll be stuck scrounging for the leftovers. Grand Theft Auto Online is free to gamers who already own GTA 5.

That’s about it for the Grand Theft Auto Online launch details. We’ll see you online.
