‘Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag’ Trailer Shows Off Its ‘Infamous Pirates’ [Video]

The latest Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag trailer has hit, and this time it introduces you to its “infamous pirates.”

Desmond Miles’ latest adventures in the Animus are about a month away now, and Ubisoft wants you to brush up on its scallywag cast in the latest trailer for Assassin’s Creed 4. New to the series are sea-faring battles that will have you going up against other pirate ships and Templar-run seaports, and secret areas that can only be reached from underwater. Returning from Assassin’s Creed II are city-based parkour and the ever-popular assassins’ tombs (although they may serve a different purpose, the idea is the same).

Captain Edward Kenway is a British pirate forced into the seas to fight when things at home get a little too crazy. As a result of his urge to fight back, he discovers a plot by the Templars to take over the Caribbean or whatnot for a powerful artifact, and that’s where you come in.

The Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag trailer above begins with Matt Ryan, the voice of Captain Edward Kenway, as he tells us he is about to introduce us to some of the “infamous pirates” in the game. He starts off with his own character.

Unlike any previous assassin from the series, Edward Kenway is rowdy, with a hot temper and a killer wit. Much like the pirates we’ve come to know, he has a thing for drinking, and he’s a loose cannon.

His quartermaster was a slave, who escaped to a life as a pirate in his teens, and now shows his loyalty to his Captain Edward Kenway. He’s more level-headed and sometimes feels the need to talk some sense into the feisty and ambitious Captain.

The pirate republic is a new empire founded by Benjamin Hornigold and Edward Thatch, the latter of which goes by the name Blackbeard. Blackbeard is Edward Kenway’s mentor of sorts, a man who rules with fear, while Hornigold is more of a gentleman kind of pirate whose intellect shows past his need to pillage.

Other recruits to the cause include Stede Bonnet, who was more of a rich man with wild dreams before joining Captain Edward Kenway for some adventures on the high seas.

Woodes Rogers is more fearless and bent on destroying the pirate republic.

Charles Vane is an all-for-himself kind of pirate, cruel and psychotic, obviously not working well with others.

In the end, all of these pirates will clash in one bloody but glorious battle in the Caribbean.

What do you think of the latest Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag trailer introducing the game’s “infamous pirates”?
