Stevie Nicks Praises Beyoncé: ‘She’s Not Skanky, I’m Glad We Have Her’

Beyoncé has her detractors, but, in Steve Nicks, she has an true admirer.

“Beyonce’s great,” the 65-year-old legend told the UK’s Telegraph. “She’s got her alter ego [Sasha Fierce], but Beyoncé the girl, the woman, is very sweet and nice and polite.

Nicks continued: “She’s a good role model. She’s not skanky. I’m glad we have her.”

The Fleetwood Mac singer met Beyoncé in 2001 on the set of the Destiny’s Child music video for “Bootylicious,” which famously sampled Nicks’ 1981 song “Edge of Seventeen.”

Nicks was far less complimentary when she commented on Britney Spears’ “obnoxious” stage kiss with veteran shock-queen Madonna at the MTV Video Music Awards.

At the time, Stevie said Britney needed to “find a way out of this hole she has dug for herself.”

Six years on, Nick’s feelings toward Spears hadn’t mellowed one bit. In 2009, the veteran singer-songwriter told Extra the pop princess was not a “real rock star” because she “did not join a band when she was 18 and practice every day for five hours Monday through Friday and then play gigs Friday, Saturday and Sunday.”

Meanwhile, Beyoncé continues to amaze audiences on her Mrs Carter Show world tour.

Currently in Brazil where she kicked off her Latin America leg on September 8, the Houston native recently exampled Nick’s words in her Sao Paulo concert on Sunday.

During a rendition of her 2006 hit “Irreplaceable,” an over-exuberant, shirtless male fan pulled the “Halo” singer off the stage when she knelt over the side in an interactive moment.

True to form, Beyoncé not only carried on singing without missing a line as bodyguards pulled her back on stage, the superstar took the fan’s hand and told him she loved him.

Moreover, the 32-year-old stopped guards from ejecting the fan and reassured the crowd saying, “It’s all right. I love you all,” at the end of the bizarre interlude.

In other Beyonce news, just one day before her Sao Paulo gig the mother-of-one and Jay Z jetted to the San Diego-area resort Grand Del Mar Hotel where Miami Heat hero LeBron James’ married his longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson on Saturday (Sep. 14).

Beyoncé and Jay Z reportedly performed “Crazy in Love,” according to US Weekly.
