2010 Denver Broncos season in review

The 2010 Denver Broncos went just 4-12, they got their head coach fired. Strike that Josh McDaniels got himself fired and they may or may not have their QB of the future already on their roster. If Tim Tebow can become a great NFL QB things are not that bad for the Broncos, if he cannot this team is going to struggle for another few years. When I look at the numbers it is the defense that is the problem, and I think that is true of the past few years. They play a 3-4 scheme that they do not have the right personnel for, and that more than anything is the main issue.

The offense scored 344 points in 2010 and that was the 19th best mark amongst the 32 NFL teams. The good news is Kyle Orton had a pretty good year 3,653 passing yards to go along with 20 TD passes to just 9 INT’s. If they plan to dump Orton his trade value based on that would be quite high. However they owe him a ton of money and that is going to make swinging a deal for him rather difficult. Of course there is the state of the running game, they averaged less than 100 rushing yards per game and that may mean they need O line help as well.

This defense was horrid. They gave up 471 points, almost 30 points a game and those are easily the most point surrendered by any 2010 NFL team. The defense is just bad. They managed only 13 forced fumbles, and 10 interceptions. No wonder they were -9 in takeaway differential. Again I think there is some talent here, but they are not playing a scheme they are suited for.

Right now it does not look good for fans of the Denver Broncos. There seems to be a lot of strange things going on in the front office of this team, and they are banking on the addition of John Elway to help right the ship. We shall see on this one.
