Lebron James To Produce Sitcom For Starz

LeBron James is about to add producer to his resume.

The two-time NBA Champion is partnering up with Starz to produce a new sitcom called “Survivor’s Remorse.”

James won’t be starring in the show but he will be able to give some valuable input. The show will focus on two men from the inner city who suddenly became famous. ABC notes that one of the men is an NBA star.

James said: “I think the main thing for me is, first of all, making it out of a place where you’re not supposed to. You’re supposed to be a statistic and end up like the rest of the people in the inner city — (and) being one of the few to make it out and everyone looking at you to be the savior… When you make it out, everyone expects for — they automatically think that they made it out and it’s very tough for a young, African-American 18-year-old kid to now hold the responsibility of a whole city, of a whole community. I can relate to that as well.”

James business partner Maverick Carter said that the show was not based off of LeBron James’ life.

Carter said: “It’s definitely not an autobiographical series about LeBron’s life; it’s fictional characters living in a fictional world… LeBron is actually too famous, he would screw the show up if I tried to make a show about him.”

The show may not be based on James’ life but the NBA star was the show’s inspiration. Co-producer Tom Werner, who has produced shows like The Cosby Show, said that the idea for “Survivor’s Remorse” came after a long talk with the NBA star.

Werner said: “I think the juxtaposition of great wealth — and then you go back to your home in Akron and the neighborhood that you come from — the chasm is a fairly big one, and I think it’s some very interesting story material.”

The character in “Survivor’s Remorse” will share many attributes with LeBron James. The King did not say, however, if the character would also have hideous toes.
