Beyoncé Raises A Little Mighty To Close First Day Of Philly Fest [Video]

Beyoncé closed the first day of husband Jay Z’s second annual music Budweiser Made in America Festival with a reportedly explosive, 90 minute set packed with crowd-pleasing, chart hits.

Coming off joint headlining at the UK’s V Festival, the Houston firebrand brought her Mrs. Carter Show to Philadelphia to the delight of a 50,000-strong audience on Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Other artists on the bill included Walk the Moon, Haim, Phoenix, Public Enemy, Imagine Dragons, 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky, Empire of the Sun, Deadmau5, and the Uk’s Emeli Sandé and Rudimental who performed across three stages during the 10-hour event.

Taking to the main stage with her recently debuted blonde bob in waves and a new look intricately beaded Timothy White dress set off by Reed Krakoff heels, Beyoncé tore through the full set from her tour. The first two songs were “Run the world (Girls)” and “End of Time.”

In a glowing USA Today review, the 31-year-old’s show was described as an “enigmatic, explosive performance” that began the moment she started stomping. Punching through hits such as “Crazy in Love,” “If I Were a Boy,” “1+ 1,” and “Get Me Bodied,” the mother of one reportedly delivered a flawless, powerhouse show with cinematic visuals, inspired arrangements and sassy banter inter-songs.

The multi-Grammy award winner enthused as she arrived onstage “Welcome to Made In America,” adding, “Show me how loud you can be,” and was reportedly excited and dynamic throughout her set.

Despite Jay Z’s curation of the festival he didn’t join his wife for the iconic hit “Crazy in Love” as many had expected.

Bowing with last song, the torch ballad “Halo,” Beyoncé told the crowd,”This has been a beautiful night.”

Nine Inch Nails, Calvin Harris, Queens of the Stone Age, Kendrick Lamar, Miguel, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are among the acts set to perform Sunday.

Beyoncé recently released a tribute video to fans she has met along the way during her acclaimed tour, and from here the singer heads to Latin America to kick off the next leg of her global trek on September 8.
