Lil Scrappy Arrested For Disorderly Conduct

Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Lil Scrappy was arrested at a Georgia gas station Tuesday.

The 29-year-old was caught on camera fighting with a man who had allegedly disrespected his girlfriend.

Police received a call about the fight around 2:33 am. An off-duty Atlanta police officer happened to be at the same gas station and broke up the fight. When on-duty officers arrived, the rapper and the other man were arrested for disorderly conduct and taken into custody at East Point Jail.

Scrappy — whose real name is Darryl Kevin Richardson — cooperated with police and was released a short time later. The rapper told TMZ that the other man, Kenny Rogers (yes, like the country singer), was the aggressor in the fight.

“He was calling my girlfriend names and then put his hands on me… so I had to lay them paws on him,” he said.

Lil Scrappy’s lawyer Mawuli Mel Davis said footage of the incident proves that he was acting in self-defense. The rapper said he plans to cooperate with law enforcement moving forward.

In May, the Atlanta native said he was going to check himself into rehab after failing a court-ordered drug test. His lawyer said that the rapper acknowledged that he was addicted to marijuana and was interested in getting help.

“After testing positive, Mr. Richardson went and sought clinical help and was diagnosed with marijuana addiction and post-traumatic stress disorder,” Davis said.

A DeKalb County Superior Court judge decided that Scrappy should enroll in a treatment program.

“He obviously needs some help to get off drugs. And we can’t trust him to do it on his own. I think he’s tried to cheat the system,” Judge Daniel M. Coursey said.

Lil Scrappy got into trouble in March 2012 after trying to turn in a urine sample that was cold to the touch. He refused a request to provide another sample, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He later turned himself in.
