Shania Twain Has Songs Ready For New Album

Shania Twain is working on her first album since 2002, and it appears that she already has a lot of work done.

The country singer, who turned 48 today, told Rolling Stone that she has several songs written already, and now she’s just looking for a producer.

Twain said: “I’m pretty much there with my songs, and I’m really just sitting on the fence in regards to a producer.”

Twain said that she’s been “doing her homework” and listening to a lot of albums in order to pick the perfect producer for her new album. The singer said that she loved Lana Del Rey’s album Born To Die, which was produced by David Kahne, and the Robert Plant and Alison Krauss’ record Raising Sand, which was produced by the legendary T-Bone Burnett.

Twain said: “So that goes to show you how lost I am as far as production direction because I’m listening to such a broad spectrum.”

Shania Twain may not know who is going to produce the new album but she already has an idea about her new sound. The country singer said that she wanted the new album to show some growth from her 2002 effort Up.

Twain said: “I’m different, I’ve evolved, and I want that to be reflected in the music. At the same time I don’t want to abandon the root of what I am. There are probably less upbeat songs. I would say it’s more half and half compared to what I’ve done in the past, where I would’ve learned more towards mostly uptempo songs.”

Are you excited for the new Shania Twain album? The singer is about to start a new string of shows in Las Vegas, so it’s unclear when she’ll be able to record her new music.
