Kickalicious Cut By Detroit Lions

The great Kickalicious experiment is over.

Havard Rugland, who earned a spot at the Detroit Lions camp thanks to his viral Kickalicious YouTube videos, was cut by the team on Tuesday morning.

According to M Live, the Lions needed to trim their roster to 75 players by 4 pm this afternoon. Cornerback DeQuan Menzie was cut this morning and the Lions will have to get rid of three more players before the deadline.

Kickalicious did pretty well at camp but he never really had a chance to make the team since the Lions already have veteran and former Pro Bowler David Akers on the roster.

Still, some believed that Kickalicious would make the cut after he was perfect during the Lions first pre-season game.

The Detroit Free Press reports that the Lions were always planning on going with Akers as their replacement for Jason Hanson. Detroit gave Kickalicious a chance because Akers has had some injury problems in the past. The veteran has been healthy and kicking well during camp and that basically ended any hope for Rugland to land on the roster.

Havard Rugland may not be playing with the Detroit Lions this year but he could still earn a spot in the NFL.
