Kate Gosselin Suing Ex For ‘Hacking’ Phone And Computer

Kate Gosselin is suing her ex (yes, that ex), accusing him of hacking her phone and computer to cull material for his tell-all book.

The Associated Press reports that Jon Gosselin reportedly accessed emails, bank accounts and other private information from a stolen hard drive to get spicy details for his 2012 book Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World.

The book was written by Robert Hoffman, a tabloid writer and Jon’s business partner, but was yanked from shelves after two days because the information inside was “illegally obtained,” the lawsuit holds.

“Jon violated a federal anti-hacking statute in order to publish salacious, scandalous and defamatory information about Kate,” Gosselin’s lawyer, A. Jordan Rushie, said of the lawsuit.

“It’s damaged her reputation.”

The lawsuit, filed Monday, also accuses Jon Gosselin of identity theft, wiretapping and invasion of privacy. Damaged sought were not specified. Neither Jon Gosselin nor Hoffman, also named as a defendant, were available for comment.

Jon and Kate Gosselin starred in the reality TV show Jon & Kate plus 8 which chronicled their lives raising twins and sextuplets. They separated in 2009 and later divorced.

The divorce was incredibly contentious, and Kate’s new lawsuit isn’t even close to being the first time these two have traded legal blows since they split up. Jon Gosselin at one time sought primary custody of the couple’s kids, citing Kate’s appearances on Dancing With the Stars as evidence that she was an absentee mother.

Kate Gosselin’s lawyer branded these claims “reckless.”
