Will there be an ‘NSYNC reunion at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards? According to widespread internet speculation, the group could be getting back together for a one-off performance.
Fans of the iconic boy band seem pretty excited about the idea of a possible reunion. However, nothing about the get-together has been confirmed by anyone associated with the group.
“Justin Timberlake is getting the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award this Sunday at the awards, so of course people are automatically going to think we’re going to be there performing, but this is exactly how it happened and I knew these rumors were going to fly,” Bass explained.
Although several news outlets have asked MTV for confirmation, the network hasn’t confirmed or denied the rumors. Representatives from Justin Timberlake’s camp have also remained quiet about the situation. Apparently they really want you check out this year’s VMAs.
How did this ‘NSYNC reunion get started? According to Lance Bass, the whole thing began with a seemingly harmless little Instagram post. Since Bass, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick posed together for a photo, fans immediately started wondering if a reunion was in the works.
“It’s amazing to see the reaction out there on Twitter and social media [and] how many people are supporting ‘NSYNC,” Bass said on this radio show.
The singer continued, “It’s so nice to see because when we ended things [over] 10 years ago, there was no social media, there was no Twitter, but it’s so cute to see how many people are supporting [us], and ‘NSYNC was even trending.”
A source close to MTV recently told Us Weekly that they were attempting to get the group together for a performance at the VMAs. Although producers are reportedly close to getting the details worked out, it’s unclear if this is actually going to happen.
