Woman Dislocates Jaw Attempting To Eat Triple Patty Burger

A British woman has dislocated her jaw after she attempted to eat a “triple-patty” hamburger.

Nicola Peate was attempting to eat the “Kids in America Burger” at the Almost Famous restaurant in Liverpool, when her jaw locked into place because her mouth couldn’t handle the strain of the dish.

When the incident originally occurred colleagues, who had gathered for a work’s meal, decided to simply laugh off her ordeal, and like any dotting beau, her fiance, Neil, leapt in to finish off the burger.

However, as the couple made their way home, they soon became aware of the gravity of her injury as Nicola began to complain about the pain she was suffering.

The next morning, Ms Peate struggled into work but the pain had soon become so unbearable that she had to visit a doctor.

Nicola remarked, “I didn’t think i’d dislocated it – you don’t expect it to happen eating a burger. But I tried to eat it with a knife and fork and couldn’t. I couldn’t open my mouth fully. It felt like I had cramp in my tongue, then I started to get an ear ache and a headache.”

Ms Peate continued, “The next morning I woke up and felt really, really ill. The whole side of my head was hurting. Then it started to feel like it was in my jaw and I knew I’d dislocated it.”

Nicola then visited the Emergency Department at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, and after an x-ray her jaw was then manipulated back into place by a doctor, who used his thumbs to complete the procedure.

This instantly cured her pain, with Nicola remembering, “The minute it went back in it was like turning a tap off in my head. All the tension just went.”

The doctor then diagnosed Nicola with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, which means that her joints are unstable and are more likely to dislocate.
