Terrence Howard Evicted, Sued For Squatting And Overdue Rent

Actor Terrence Howard really isn’t doing so well these days. On top of domestic abuse allegations, he has also been evicted from his New York apartment and hit with a lawsuit over past-due rent.

TMZ originally reported that Howard had been evicted from his Manhattan apartment after his lease came to an end in November of last year. He continued to live at the residence rent-free until the landlord finally put his foot down and evicted the Iron Man actor in May.

The landlord has now filed a lawsuit seeking rent money for all of those months Howard was a squatter in his former flat.

The owner wants an unspecified amount in compensation (the backed rent) as well as legal fees.

Aside from his leasing troubles, Howard it also in the midst of a legal battle with his ex-wife, Michelle Ghent. She got a restraining order against the actor and has claimed that he assaulted her physically.

For his part, Howard claims that he was the real victim during their marriage, and alleges that Ghent Maced and threatened to kill him, his adult daughter and his son-in-law during a family vacation last month.

“Unfortunately I’ve tried to help people, and it’s not necessarily in the same enlightened path of trying to help themselves,” he told Entertainment Tonight.

“I just wish the best for her, but as far as me harming somebody… I really can’t harm a fly. It’s completely against my spirit, but I’m so heartbroken, that you can see that doing it on a night like this is only for an attempt to try and hurt me.”

Terrence Howard and Michelle Ghent split in 2011 after just a year of marriage.
