One bride with 80 bridesmaids in her wedding ceremony simply said she didn’t want to leave anyone out.
Katie Dalby, a dance instructor in the U.K., asked her three sisters in law, a niece, a cousin and a best friend to be bridesmaids in her recent wedding. Seems there’s a few missing from that wedding party… let’s add 74 dance students, she figured.
“The children were all very excited when I told them I was getting married – some of them had been asking me for more than a year,” Dalby recalled.
“It just couldn’t have been fair to choose two or three of them so the only solution was to invite 74 of them – I didn’t want to exclude anyone,” she reasoned.
Believe it or not, the friend and family members int he wedding party were actually an afterthought… it wasn’t the other way around.
“I also invited my three sisters-in-law, a niece, a cousin and my best friend to be bridesmaids and it made my special day even more special. We chose the colour of their dresses and the mums did a brilliant job of dressing the children.”
The church was able to accommodate the massive, 80 bridesmaids-plus wedding party, though the road had to be blocked off. Dalby, 26, took her vows opposite 37-year-old Norman Gooch, and the two became man and wife with plenty of witnesses to spare.
No word on whether Gooch was able to match his bride’s wedding party.
Good for them, blessings all around and all that, but 80 bridesmaids? Holy matrimony, Batman!
