An “Angel” priest reportedly appeared at a car crash this week in Missouri, performed a miracle, and then vanished.

The strange story is making its way around the internet today and according to New London Fire Chief Raymond Reed it’s absolutely true.

Reed doesn’t know if the mystery man was actually an angel but he did say that he believed a miracle happened on Missouri Highway 19 today.

Reed said: “I think it’s a miracle… I would say whether it was an angel that was sent to us in the form of a priest or a priest that became our angel, I don’t know. Either way, I’m good with it.”

According to USA Today , 19-year-old Katie Lentz got into a car crash near the town of Center, in Missouri. The young woman got trapped between the steering wheel and the seat of her car and rescue workers could not free her. After about an hour, Lentz asked if someone would pray for her.

That’s is when the angel priest appeared at the car crash. The man, dressed in all black and carrying anointing oil, approached the girl and started to pray.

The rescue workers were able to free the girl a short time later. They were not, however, able to thank the priest. As soon as the girl was freed from the car the man disappeared.

Reed said that the crew on the scene came from several neighboring towns and none of them had seen the priest before. Reed said: “We’re all local people from four different towns. We’ve only got one Catholic church out of three towns and it wasn’t their priest.”

The Huffington Post notes that dozens of photos were taken at the crash site and none of them capture the Angel priest.

Reed said: “I have 69 photographs that were taken from minutes after that accident happened — bystanders, the extrication, our final cleanup — and he’s not in them. All we want to do is thank him.”
