Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach Accused Of Spousal Abuse

Dan Auerbach’s wife has accused him of spousal abuse in divorce documents she filed recently. While Stephanie Ann Gonie Auerbach doesn’t disclose the exact abuse, she alleges to an incident of self-harm.

The Black Keys musician’s wife claimed that she cut herself “superficially” on the legs and ankles during one of the alleged abuse situations.

However, Auerbach denied the spousal abuse claims, reports E! Online. Instead, he claims that his wife has attempted suicide twice, once in front of the couple’s daughter.

Divorce documents have also revealed that Stephanie voluntarily checked her self into a rehab facility in the past. The reason she went to the facility was not revealed.

Stephanie denied the suicide allegations. But it is unknown what the judge believes at this point. For now, Dan Auerbach has primary custody of the couple’s daughter, notes CBS News.

The judge has allowed Stephanie to retain visiting rights until the judge has deemed her mentally stable and decided she won’t pose a threat to her daughter’s safety.

The divorce documents alleging the abuse have to do with custody arrangements for the couple’s daughter. But given Stephanie’s stint in a residential treatment facility, it isn’t surprising Auerbach has custody of his daughter.

While Dan Auerbach’s divorce drama has apparently exploded out, his band has done well recently. The Black Keys went into the Grammy Awards in February with six nominations, including Album of the Year. They walked away with four awards, including Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for Lonely Boy.

They also won Best Rock Album for the 2011 hit El Camino, while Auerbach snagged the award for Producer of the Year. The ban is currently working on a new album, which will be their follow-up to El Camino.

A publicist for the singer/guitarist has declined to comment on the apparently nasty divorce allegations aimed at Dan Auerbach.
