The Office Audition Reel: Now-Famous Celebs Try Out For Beloved Roles [Video]

The final season of The Office is coming to DVD this September. To celebrate, the producers have released footage of now-famous actors reading for the show’s iconic roles all the way back in 2003.

The Office audition reel shows familiar faces like Adam Scott, Eric Stonestreet and even Seth Rogen reading even more familiar lines from your favorite Office characters exactly 10 years ago.

Aside from how alarmingly little all of these people have aged in 10 years, it’s crazy to think that these beloved TV and film stars were once just trying to break into the mainstream and thought The Office might be their ticket.

Spoiler alert: The Office was a huge break for all of its stars, but the show’s cast almost looked very different… yet very familiar, since they’re all famous in their own right now.

Here’s a quick run-down of the Office audition reel: Adam Scott tried out for the role of Jim Halpert, but lost to John Krasinski. Scott later cinched a lead role in Greg Daniels’ other mockumentary, Parks and Recreation.

Kathryn Hahn auditioned for the role of Pam, but lost it to Jenna Fischer. Hahn also went on to star in multiple episodes of Parks and Recreation as campaign manager Jennifer Barkley.

Other hopefuls included Bob Odenkirk as Michael Scott and Eric Stonestreet as Kevin.

Perhaps most surprisingly, Seth Rogen actually auditioned for the role of Dwight Schrute. Sure, I’m a fan of Rogen, but could you really imagine anyone but Rainn Wilson as Dwight?

Anyway. Watch the Office audition reel above and let us know if you could see any of these now-famous actors in these iconic roles.
