According to one very excited Sylvester Stallone, legendary actor Harrison Ford has officially signed on for next year’s The Expendables 3.
The Rocky star has been hard at work putting together an impressive roster for the upcoming sequel. Although a number the candidates have yet to confirm their involvement with the flick, it would appear that Ford is ready and willing to roll.
Unfortunately, it looks like one Expendables veteran is dropping out of the project. In addition to announcing Harrison Ford’s participation, Stallone said that Bruce Willis has officially dropped out.
“WILLIS OUT… HARRISON FORD IN!!!! GREAT NEWS!!!!! Been waiting years for this!!!!” Stallone posted on Twitter. The abundance of exclamation points suggests that the guy is extremely excited about the actor’s decision to sign on for the follow-up.
Ford isn’t the only big name Sylvester Stallone wants for The Expendables 3. Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Steven Seagal, Mel Gibson, Nicolas Cage, and Milla Jovovich are other names that have been tossed around in recent months. Although it’s likely Snipes will join the fray, Cage said last month that he probably won’t be involved.
“I have not had any formal discussions about [Expendables 3]. I’m not in Kick-Ass 2 and I don’t think I’m in Expendables 3. And I like those guys, but I would say it would be highly unlikely that I’d be in that movie,” Cage explained.
Right now the cast includes Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, and Victor Ortiz. Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture will likely return for another go-around as well. However, it’s unknown if Jet Li is signing on for the sequel.
Red Hill director Patrick Hughes will step behind the camera for the upcoming adventure. If you haven’t seen the guy’s feature-length debut, then you need to take care of that business before this flick hits theaters next year.
Are you surprised that Harrison Ford is joining the cast of The Expendables 3?
