Joan Collins Denies Shirley Jones’ Swinging Story

Joan Collins has denied Shirley Jones’ swinging story. Jones’ memoir, Shirley Jones: A Memoir, promised to reveal some shocking information. However, Collins has questioned Jones’ memory about a specific evening.

As reported by the Huffington Post, Jones’ memoir details an evening that she and her husband, Jack Cassidy, spent will Collins and her husband, Tony Newley.

The memoir explains that the two couples met at Collins and Newley’s new home for a dinner party. At some point during the evening, Newley reportedly suggested that they all remove their clothing and watch a pornographic movie.

Jones states that “it was clear what Tony was leading up to — swinging.”

According to Jones, she and Cassidy declined Newley’s suggestion. However, Joan Collins is incredibly angry that the story made it into the memoir.

Collins insists that the entire story is a fabrication. As reported by TMZ, Collins’ attorneys sent a cease and desist letter to Jones’ publisher. The letter reportedly demanded that the book be removed from the shelves immediately.

Jones insists that the event did in fact happen, exactly as she describes. However, a representative for Jones later explained that the publisher, Gallery Books, “agreed an error was made and they will be correcting it as quickly as possible.”

What prompted the decision to change the excerpt will likely remain a mystery.

Jones warned readers that her memoir would contain some shocking and revealing information. As reported by Fox News, the introduction stated:

“… bring out the smelling salts, hang on to your hats, and get ready for the surprise of your lives!”

The tell-all book reveals Jones’ rocky relationship with Jack Cassidy, which reportedly included numerous infidelities. Jones admits participating in one threesome. However, she states that she did not enjoy it.

Jones explains that she was ready to reveal the real woman behind the wholesome mom she portrayed on The Partridge Family.

Joan Collins was not amused. Although she was reportedly “livid” when she heard about the book, it appears that Jones’ publishers are trying to meet her demands.
