‘Riddick’ Gets Epic Red Band Trailer At Comic-Con [Video]

A red band trailer for Riddick debuted at Comic-Con in San Diego this week. Be forewarned: It’s NSFW. It’s also so awesome that your boss might just stop by and watch it with you.

You can watch the trailer above, but here’s a quick fact-sheet on Riddick if you’re still hanging around.

Riddick is the third installment in the Chronicles of Riddick film series, and the first film since 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick. The film stars Vin Diesel as the title character, and is written and directed by David Twohy, who wrote and directed the previous two installments (the first being Pitch Black in 1999).

Diesel is also the film’s producer.

While Chronicles was intended as a big budget summer blockbuster, Riddick sees the franchise return to its indie roots. Here’s the synopsis:

“Betrayed by the Necromongers and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.”

Karl Urban returns as Lord Vaako from Chronicles, and Katee Sackhoff joins as Dahl.

The film is scheduled for a September 6, 2013 release. It will be rated ‘R.’
