Tyra Banks: $90 Million Not Enough?

Tyra Banks has come a long way since she started modeling at the age of 17.

She has demonstrated amazing business acumen in building a formidable empire which, according to Forbes, was already worth some $90 million in 2012.

This former Victoria’s Secret supermodel has leveraged her natural beauty into a variety of enterprises.

Along the way she worked with a number of leading brands in the fashion industry, including Ralph Lauren, Dolce & Gabbana, Yves Saint Laurent, and Nike.

Not satisfied with the limitations of fashion, she extended her talents to include acting in both movies and TV. And it was working in TV that gave her the connections to move into production.

She is the owner a company called ‘The Bankable’ which produced and developed a number of hit shows, including “America’s Next Top Model’.

Now, she is expanding into yet another field. It has been reported that she is investing in the on-line fashion shopping site, The Hunt.com, through her new company, Fierce Capital LLC.

She told Women’s Wear Daily:

“I created Fierce Capital LLC because supporting female owned, led and targeted businesses is extremely important to me. We are excited about The Hunt, our first fashion investment, because it truly sucks to discover a great style item but not be able to find and buy it. The Hunt solves that fashion dilemma in a fun and innovative way.”

Tyra Banks is not the only celebrity interested in The Hunt. The site’s creators, Tim Weingarten and Simon Peck, say that Ashton Kutcher is just one of a number of famous people who have also invested.

So, in future it will be Tyra Banks, Entrepreneur and Business Tycoon, well on the way to her first $100 million.

Do you think that the name of Tyra Banks will add true value to the website? Or might she get her fingers burned if the online shopping bubble ever bursts? You can tell us what you think in the comments section below.
