Want to see Tom Hanks as Walt Disney? A new trailer for the upcoming Saving Mr. Banks features the Oscar winning actor as Mr. Mickey Mouse and Emma Thompson as P.L. Travers, the woman who wrote Mary Poppins.
The new movie tells the story of how Mary Poppins became a Disney classic. Thompson is reluctant to see her book become a movie but, really, who can resist the charms of Tom Hanks. I mean Walt Disney.
Here's the synopsis from IMDB: "Author P.L. Travers travels from London to Hollywood as Walt Disney adapts her novel Mary Poppins for the big screen."
Hanks said: "I don't want to piss anybody off. I want to be accurate, more than anything else. John Lee Hancock is the director, and it's really the story of Emma Thompson more than it's about me, so, you know, I don't want to screw up."
Hanks said that he has always been fascinated with Walt Disney. The actor noted that while Disney became known for bringing kid friendly cartoons to the world he was also a tough businessman.
Most people are talking about Tom Hanks as Walt Disney today but that's merely because Mr. Mickey Mouse is such a well-known character. Emma Thompson, also an Oscar winner, does an equally fantastic job as author P.L. Travers.
Saving Mr. Banks also features actors like Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman and Bradley Whitford. The new movie will hit theaters just before Christmas. Here's the trailer for Saving Mr. Banks.
