Clap-Off Bra Clip Retrending Because Boobies [NSFW Video]
Have you seen the clap-off bra video? Perhaps in 2011 when the clip of a brassiere removed by clapping first hit the social web?
Since its debut, the clap-off bra has been featured on “meatspace” television, including Kathie Lee And Hoda as well as The Tonight Show.
In the clip, a clap-off bra is shown in action… sported by the wearer, and, in response to applause, removed with haste — because is there any period of time longer than that for both the bra wearer and recipient when a bra is painstakingly being unclasped by a partner?
The clap-off bra is the polar opposite of the vintage XKCD comic in which every male’s nightmare bra clasp scenario is revealed (or illustrated), depicted as the close of the garment being replaced with a Rubik’s Cube. (As a bra wearer myself, it can feel like that even to females at the end or start of a long day.)
It appears the clap-off bra was invented by a user on the DIY site Instructables, where community members use household items in novel ways to solve problems. Instructables serves as a massive database of how-tos, but in a much more out of the box way than standard YouTube tutorials.
And what’s a bigger problem than it taking way too long to get to boobies? We can’t think of one.
User randofo explains:
“… it became my mission to fast-forward lingerie technology in the West. I figured the first step in this critical mission was to replicate some of the advancements made in Syria. The article of lingerie that resonated most with my inner sensibilities was the clap-off bra. I immediately resolved to make my own clap-off bra as a springboard into Western lingerie innovation.”
Hah! Imagine all the awkward moments that a round of applause could create with this “clap-off bra”: http://t.co/F4IZkasTSg

As fans of Reddit’s A Bra That Fits, we must caution against the clap-off bra as a daily option — it’s clear that the device, however clever, doesn’t properly fit or provide support. But for a single knock-your-socks-off night, it’s a cute idea.
