‘The Expendables 3’: Steven Seagal Will Fight Mel Gibson [Rumor]

Steven Seagal could fight Mel Gibson in the upcoming sequel The Expendables 3.

At this point, it’s a little difficult to separate fact from fiction when discussing Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming action extravaganza. Recent rumors surrounding next year’s follow-up suggest Steven Seagal and Mel Gibson have joined the mix.

According to Worst Previews, both men are reportedly signing on for The Expendables 3. Here’s the most exciting part: Steven Seagal might square off against Mel Gibson in the sequel. Fans who grew up watching 80s action movies are probably incredibly excited right about now.

Of course, none of these rumors have been confirmed by anyone associated with the project as of this writing. EXBlog claims the reports surfaced on several Bulgarian news sites a few days ago. Chances are Stallone or producer Avi Lerner will clear things up before too long.

The Expendables 3 script is said to be undergoing a quite a few changes in order to accommodate everyone Sylvester Stallone wants to feature in the sequel. The writer and star is also interested in bringing Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan, and Milla Jovovich to the table for the next installment.

Flickering Myth reported last year that Steven Seagal was approached by Stallone to appear in the next Expendables movie. However, the Out for Justice star declined to participate in the project at the time.

Earlier this year, Stallone tweeted that he had reached out to Seagal once again regarding a part in The Expendables 3. At last check, the Rocky star was still waiting for a response. Has Steven Seagal finally agreed to join up? Hopefully something concrete will come down the pipeline before long.

Stallone previously teased that Mel Gibson was being eyed as the director for the next sequel. However, the project would ultimately end up in the very capable hands of Red Hill mastermind Patrick Hughes.
