Ellen Page Finds Public Interest In Her Personal Life ‘Silly’

Actress Ellen Page is not really sure why people are so interested in the personal lives of celebrities. In a wide-ranging interview with The Guardian, the 26-year-old actress talks everything from feminism to the oft-repeated rumor that she is a lesbian.

Sexuality rumors kicked into high gear back in 2009, when Page appeared in a Saturday Night Live skit that dubbed her a “primo lesbian.” She shot back: “Gay, no way! Why does everything have a freaking label? Why can’t I just hug a woman with my legs in friendship?”

Though it was rumored that Page may be a homosexual prior to the skit (mostly because she dresses like a tomboy), it didn’t exactly sway the gossip mill from speculating about her sexuality.

In the interview, while Page was very outspoken on her feminist stance, she still declined to fully reveal her sexuality. Instead, she wondered why we seem to care as much as we do.

“It will sound like I’m making this up but I don’t think I even thought about it at the time,” she said. “I just thought the skit was funny. All of that gossip is silly — people caring about [celebrities’ personal lives] — I just don’t get it.”

Though lately the rumor mill has suggested that Page has been cozying up to her The East co-starTrue Blood heartthrob Alexander Skarsgard, she declined to comment on her relationship with him. She merely referred to the 36-year-old as her “male friend,” though the Guardian reporter noted that she did blush when his name came up.

Let the Ellen Page speculation continue. Just have a boring life, Juno. Geez.
