Foursquare Now Gives You A Heads Up On How Close You Are To Mayor

Foursquare has made it easier for users chasing mayorships at locations with a new feature that lets you know who you’re up against.

Starting today, Foursquare location pages include the check in figure for the existing mayor, so you can estimate how close you might be to snatching it off the person.

To become mayor of a Foursquare place, you need to have checked in more days than anyone else at the location over the last two months (60 days), and only one check-in per day counts.

In another minor change, mayorships will be easier to come by with location managers now banned from holding the mayor position as well.

As a Foursquare user, it’s a small but welcome change: now I know how many times I need to visit a venue to snatch the mayor position, and I also know the venues where I don’t have much of a chance.
