Pierce Brosnan’s Daughter Died From Same Cancer That Killed Her Mother, Grandmother

Pierce Brosnan’s daughter died of ovarian cancer this week, the same disease that killed her mother and grandmother.

Charlotte Brosnan, 41, died this week in London. She leaves behind two children.

The loss was particularly hard for Pierce Brosnan, who lost his wife, Cassandra Harris, to the same disease in 1991. Cassandra’s mother had previously died of ovarian cancer as well.

“On June 28 at 2 p.m. my darling daughter Charlotte Emily passed on to eternal life, having succumbed to ovarian cancer,” the 60-year-old Brosnan said in a statement. “She was surrounded by her husband Alex, children Isabella and Lucas and brothers Christopher and Sean.

Pierce Brosnan’s daughter shared a close relationship with her famous dad. Shortly after the death of her mother, she and brother Christopher accompanied Pierce to the 1992 Golden Globe Awards.

When Pierce learned of his daughter’s turn for the worse, he left the set of the spy thriller November Man in Eastern Europe and rushed to be by her side.

“Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humility, courage and dignity. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl,” he said. “We pray for her and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand.”

Despite the close relationship they shared, Pierce Brosnan’s daughter was not actually a blood relation. She was born to mother Cassandra from a previous relationship, and took Brosnan’s last name after he adopted her.

“We just clicked as a family,” Brosnan told the Daily Express earlier this year. “Charlotte and Chris have just been amazing in my life.”

Pierce would go on to re-marry after the death of his first wife, wedding journalist Keely Shaye Smith. He would refer to Smith as his “North Star.” They have two children together, Dylan, 16 and Paris, 12.

Pierce Brosnan’s daughter is survived by her husband, Alex, and her children, Isabella, 15, and Lucas, 8.
