Lars Von Trier’s ‘Nymphomaniac’ Drops Its First Creepy Clip [Video]

Lars von Trier’s recent films all share three essential things: Gorgeous visuals, abject horror, and lots of sex. Gauging by the first clip from his upcoming drama Nymphomaniac, all of those things will be there in force.

The clip is called an “appetizer” clip, which is unsettling enough. The clip is from the film’s first chapter, titled “The Compleat Angler,” and we have no idea what that means, either (except that “compleat” isn’t some kind of exotic spelling for “complete,” it means “skilled”).

Anyway, in the clip, we see the character of Young Joe getting an awkward bit of instruction from the character B on how to do … something. She then opens the door to a train car, probably to seduce someone for sex.

Nymphomaniac stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Stellan Skarsgård, Christian Slater and Connie Nielsen, but Stacy Martin and Sophie Kennedy Clark are featured in the first clip.

The film made early press round over LaBeouf’s claim that it will feature unsimulated sex scenes between the A-list cast, but that rumor has since been downplayed.

Instead, von Trier will hire pornographic actors and actresses to actually have the sex, and will use camera tricks and post-production editing to make it look like we’re watching the main cast members tumble in the hay.
