CDMA iPhone Currently Undergoing Engineering Tests

John Gruber of Daring Fireball has revealed that Verizon is currently undergoing a battery of engineering tests on the CDMA version of the iPhone.

Codenamed “N92” the phone is currently undergoing engineering verification tests (EVT) which is one step below the design verification test, the same stage discovered by Gizmodo when they published the GSM iPhone 4 prototype.

Gruber is more than likely correct as various rumors have hinted to AT&T announcing the end of their iPhone exclusivity.

Unfortunately it’s still hard to determine if the tests are definitely for Verizon or if they could be for CDMA competitor Sprint, but I’d put my opinion fully behind Verizon given their stringent testing standards and their build up of an LTE service which would compliment the data guzzling device well.
