Jodie Sweetin Files For Legal Separation From Husband
Jodie Sweetin, the former Full House star, has filed for legal separation from her husband Morty Coyle. The marriage has lasted just over a year, but Sweetin is now seeking a divorce after citing irreconcilable differences, which was first reported by TMZ.
According to the report, the 31-year-old filed papers in a Los Angeles court on Monday, and she’s asking for custody of her 2-year-old daughter Beatrix as well as ownership to the couple’s 2000 Toyota Avalon. She’s also asking the judge to split their $200 Kohl’s credit card evenly.
Sweetin and Coyle announced that they were engaged on March 15,2013, which was their one-year anniversary together. They eventually tied the knot later that month during a private ceremony in Beverly Hills.
The couple will now split, and a source told Us Weekly that the divorce is “definitely true.”
“She seems in good spirits,” the source told Us Weekly. “She’s sober still so she’s in way better shape than last time. It’s definitely true. I guess it’s not working out.”
In her past, Jodie Sweetin has struggled with drug abuse after she even opened up about her various addictions in a 2009 memoir.
“I got sober for good on December 7, 2008,” she wrote. “I was flying to L.A. and I ended up taking a bunch of Nyquil and drinking a sh-tload. …From that day forward, I threw myself into going to AA and avoided people who do blow off their coffee tables.”
Sweetin battled addiction with multiple drugs including meth, ecstasy, and coke. The fight to end her struggles must of worked as she went on to say in her memoir that she’s happier than ever.
“But life is good,” she added. “I’m happier than I can remember.”
The mother of two is now set for her third divorce after asking for legal separation from her husband. She has yet to officially respond or make any sort of statement towards the decision, which may not come until after everything is settled in court.
