George Clooney’s ‘Tomorrowland’ Sets New Release Date

George Clooney’s science fiction flick Tomorrowland will hit theaters a few days earlier than expected.

Disney recently released their new schedule which outlines projects for the next couple of years. In addition to announcing the date and title for the new Muppets movie, the studio revealed Clooney’s upcoming flick will arrive in cinemas a week early.

Instead of hitting theaters on December 19, 2014, Tomorrowland is now slated to arrive on December 12, 2014. I know that’s a pretty big change, so hopefully it won’t derail your plans too much.

According to Comic Book Movie, Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted is set to arrive on March 21, 2014. This movie has nothing whatsoever to do with George Clooney or Tomorrowland, but it’s an amusing tidbit nonetheless.

While Clooney is attached to star and Brad Bird is slated to direct, the lead role in the film has yet to be cast. The Hollywood Reporter explains Disney is currently eyeing two up-and-coming actresses for the part. Insiders told the website the role has the potential to be “star-making.”

Britt Robertson (Under the Dome) and Naomi Scott (Terra Nova, Lemonade Mouth) are reportedly being tested for the role Casey Newton. Raffey Cassidy is already on-board as a robot while House M.D. alum Hugh Laurie will portray the film’s villain.

Outside of the details you just read, there isn’t a lot of information about Tomorrowland currently floating around. However, the film has been described as being very similar to Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind. That’s a certainly a very bold statement.

George Clooney can be seen next in the sci-fi flick Gravity with Sandra Bullock. The pair portray astronauts who find themselves stranded after an accident prevents them from getting back inside a space station. If you haven’t seen the teaser trailer, then feast your eyes on the clip below.
