Pac 10 has a plan to raid six Big 12 schools

Before we get deep into this let us all realize that the day of the College Super Conference is coming. That is mostly driven by the ideal to make the sports channels each big conference now owns and operates to have the largest audience possible. It seems that Fox Cable Networks, who are the Chief Operating Partners of the successful Big Ten Network, are ready to make a Big 16 network happen. In turn news has no leaked that the Pac 10 is ready to invite six Big 12 schools to form their own 16 school super conference.

It seems that the most likely conference to lose here is the Big 12 as its schools have been the most rumored to join the Big 10 or the Pac 10. More interesting than that is several of the key parties involved have had the opportunity to deny the report of Pac 10 expansion and as of yet have failed to do so. In fact the Colorado University Athletic Director virtually confirmed the report.

The offer seems to be for Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Colorado to join the Pac 10 in one division with Arizona and Arizona State. The other Pac 10 Division would consist of the other eight current Pac 10 schools.

It is a pretty good plan, and even though Texas school officials have said they would like to stay within the Big 12, it seems this would be the very best alternative to that. It would also leave the Big 10 to pick up Iowa State, Nebraska, and Missouri to broaden their audience for their sports channel.
