Poor King Kong

Universal Studios had a rough day today when a total of 2 city blocks of facades and sets (including the King Kong amusement area) were destroyed in a major blaze. In addition, a video vault containing about 40,000 to 50,000 reels were also damaged. While it was promised that the film can be replaced by the duplicates held in another location, I have to admit that there are some I wish were erased off the face of the earth forever. (Many horror movie series and chick flicks go in that category, for example.)

Three firefighters were injured fighting the blaze today, which started up in the early morning and sent clouds of smoke spiraling up over the Los Angeles area “like a bomb exploded.”
