Kanye West ‘Yeezus’ Album Drops Next Week But It’s Still Being Produced

The Kanye West Yeezus album is set to drop on June 18 yet the Island Def Jam rapper is still said to be “tinkering” with the final cut for all of the records songs.

According to reports, Kanye brought in a new producer just last week to help him put the finishing touches on his new record.

An industry source recently told the New York Post that super-producer Rick Rubin was brought on board as executive producer. Rubin is believed to have recorded “additional tracks” for the LP.

The source reveals: “Even by Kanye West standards, this is pushing it.”

Kanye West’s decision to add new tracks and tweak others hasn’t sat well with Island Def Jam, which was stuck with the task of clearing new samples for the late-breaking material. According to the report, a vocal re-recording from an obscure Chicago children’s choir was requested by the rapper.

When asked on Sunday night if the album could be delayed, Kanye West said he would not delay its release for marketing purposes. According to West:

“With this album, we ain’t [gonna] drop no single to radio. We ain’t got no NBA campaign, nothing like that. Shit, we ain’t even got no cover. We just made some real music.”

West further revealed to The Guardian:

“Back when I used to make albums and shit, a couple [of] years ago, we’d go away and work on the album for months or something,” he went on. “We’d always have to hold the album to like August, or September, or till the perfect moment and shit … But honestly at this point when I listen to radio, that ain’t where I want to be no more. Honestly at this point, I could give a fuck about selling a million records as long as I put out an album for the summer that y’all can rock to for all fuckin’ summer.”

Sure, there might not be a radio single, but Kanye West has literally been appearing all over the globe to promote Yeezus, including his two performances during the Ben Affleck hosted season finale for Saturday Night Live.

Kanye West can feign indifference in regard to his new album but we know he’s excited and campaigning as he always has for the release of his new work.
