Beyoncé Unwraps ‘Rise Up’ Song From The ‘Epic’ Soundtrack

Beyoncé’ has revealed the full audio of “Rise Up,” a song from new animated film Epic.

The online release follows teasers that appeared on the Internet last month. The anthemic ballad is one of a number of songs featured on the film’s soundtrack.

“Rise Up” was co-written by Beyoncé and “Diamonds” hit songwriter Sia Furler, who is also a singer. It was produced Hit-Boy and Chase N. Cashe.

The mother-of-one who recently — and definitively — dispelled rumors that she was expecting again, lent her voice to the role of “Queen Tara” in Twentieth Century Fox Animation and and Blue Sky Studio’s Epic.

The movie features the voices of Steven Tyler, Amanda Seyfried, Colin Farrell, Josh Hutcherson, Christoph Waltz and Pitbull.

Nutshelled, the film is about a young girl (Mary Katherine, M.K.) who lives with her eccentric scientist father but has a difficult relationship with him due to his all-consuming obsession with finding a tiny civilization in a nearby forest.

Fast forward.

M.K. gets shrunk down to tiny size by Queen Tara and finds herself drawn into a battle alongside the Leafmen, protectors of the forest to save its inhabitants and new Queen from their enemies, the Boggans.

Part of “Rise Up’s” hook lyric sings: “Fight for you and me, look into my eyes and believe, little one we will fight we will fight, little woman we will fight we will rise.”

It’s a solid inspirational song whose lyrics encourage personal empowerment, themes consistent with Beyoncé herself and the cause behind the Chime For Change concert she performed at in the UK last weekend.

The 31-year-old, who has been wowing crowds on her “Mrs. Carter Show” world tour, is now on a break and will kick off the North American leg on June 28.

For those eagerly anticipating the Houston’s native upcoming album, the latest rumors strongly hint at a November release after the star let the date slip in a recent Q and A. We’ll keep you posted on album updates.
