The Obama approval ratings have dropped hard in the wake of the Benghazi, AP, and IRS scandals.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the Obama approval rating for his job as President of the United States seemed to be scandal proof at first.

A mere 10 days ago the Obama approval rating stood at 54 percent. But the poll also found that 54 percent of Americans said they did’t believe Congress was overreacting to the IRS scandal.

As news of the Obama IRS scandal continue to be reported by the media the Obama approval rating has taken a tumble. A poll conducted by Quinnipiac University shows that fewer than half the registered voters surveyed now believe Obama is “honest and trustworthy.” Back in September of 2011 this same poll saw Obama’s approval rating at 58 percent, but now it’s plummeted down to 49 percent.

The Benghazi scandal did little to put a dent in the Obama approval rating. Even the AP scandal and the Fox News scandal were swept under the carpet. 44 percent of voters see the IRS scandal as being the most important. So far, the IRS scandal is the only potential Obama scandal with an alleged connection directly linking President Obama to IRS actions.

Peter Brown, assistant director of Quinnipiac’s Polling Institute, says the investigation of the IRS scandal saw the Obama approval rating dropping so quickly:

“There is overwhelming bipartisan support for a special prosecutor to investigate the IRS. Voters apparently don’t like the idea of Attorney General Eric Holder investigating the matter himself, perhaps because they don’t exactly think highly of him.”

Eric Holder’s approval rating is 23 percent. Even 63 percent of Democrats believe a special prosecutor should investigate the IRS scandal.
