Laptops sales beat out the desktop for the first time

According to a post on Report on Business for the first ime we are seeing the sale of laptops exceed that of the desktop computers. the share of notebooks shipped in the US to both consumer and business was 55.2 per cent in the fiscal quarter ending September 30. This amounts to more than 9.5 million units according to IDC

“What you have is massive numbers of students going back to school and they tend to shift the market one way or another, and they shifted enormously toward laptops as they went back to school,” says David Daoud an analyst with global market intelligence firm, IDC.

This doesn’t surprise me in the least and in some aspects I wouldn’t be surprised either to see his number climb; especially with the introduction of netbooks.
